GARDEN GUESTS II

"Above all give me grace to use these beauties of earth without me and this love of life within me as a means whereby my soul may rise from creature to Creator, and from nature to nature's God." John Baillie

"SHAW'S GARDENS"

Not the world famous one....but the one in my neighborhood. Up on Shaw Avenue on The Hill that is.
This particular one makes it difficult for me to not break the 10th commandment!

Have a great week. Posted by Picasa

GARDEN GUESTS

"Therefore I tell you,do not worry about your life , what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not your life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes.

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store in barns, and yet your heavenly feeds them.

Are you not much more valuable than they?

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" Matthew 6:25-27

I hope God doesn't mind me getting in on the act just a little..

GOOD MORNING!

That's what this beautiful bloosom that opened in the garden yesterday seems to be saying. What a way to start a week!

"Not knowing when the dawn will come, I open every door." Emily Dickinson

Today, why not open yourself to any possibility to bloom!

SOMETIMES IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS

The tiny miniature roses are doing well in spite of the heat.

BRINGING THE GARDEN INSIDE II

"Grace is something you can never get but can only be given.

There's no way to earn it or deserve it or bring it about any more than you can deserve the taste of raspberries and cream or your good looks.......

A good night sleep is grace and so are good dreams.

Most tears are grace.

The smell of rain is grace.

Sunshine falling on a sunflower is grace.

Somebody loving you is grace." Frederick Buechner

Have a wonderful weekend.

TRADITION

I have been told that there were always pink roses across the front of this little house that I call home. Kathy, who grew up here, gave me this rose bush in honor of her father, Tony, who took great pride and joy in his roses.

I planted it in front.

It seems to feel as much at home here as I do. Thanks, Kathy. (and "thanks", Tony)

GRATITUDE

"Let us give all that lies within us...to pure praise, to pure loving adoration, and to worship from a grateful heart..a heart that is trained to look up."

Amy Carmichael

WELCOME TO AUGUST & THE "DOG DAYS OF SUMMER"

When I first moved to the City of St. Louis, I realized that the monthly water bill was not based on consumption, but rather on how many bathrooms you have. I have two. But there's only one of me! I called the proper authorities to see if this made any difference. It didn't. I was puzzled by this seeming injustice, but decided not to "fight City Hall" over this strange way of doing things. It has turned out to be the best bargain I ever had! Go Figure! : )

(ps: please don't tell City Hall!)
