MORE MEMORIES

A rather vivid childhood memory of mine is of the two small bushes that framed our "side door" . The one we always used as we ran in and out in early June, having been "set free" to run and play all summer! This was most always accompanied by, "don't slam the screen door!"

There is a row of them blooming along the schoolyard fence across the street from me. I can almost hear Mother's voice as I walk past.

TFT: Today,I wish for each of you a pleasant summer memory. Anyone like to share?

One of my favorite memories is playing outside all day because we wanted to! Finally, my dad would whistle loud enough that the whole neighborhood knew it was time for us to go in and eat dinner.
After dinner we were allowed to go back out until dark so we ate as fast as we could, drank our iced tea and off we went!
How simple could life get?

Summer time...

Cape pool...

Cape Initational Relays...

Teams in their town's colors, kids of all ages, and parents spread all over Capaha park...

Harold Kuehle 'sitting' in the corner at pool side, under his personal umbrella, glass of iced tea, announcing the order and location of the races to come.

There was nothing more fun than to jump the starting gun on purpose....just to see that 'what did ya do that for' smile on Harold's face.

I have a picture of this scenario. I'll try to find it and we'll share it at the next family gathering.

I really thought I had heard almost all the "confessions" of you rowdy, mischieveous, sometimes downright "ornary" Rosenthal boys; but they are still coming to the surface!

Love ya all...more than I can say!

Loads of memories.

The swimming pool and the park being very vivid. I always liked it when there was a ball game and I would have enough change to get a popsicle and share it with Roxie (the sweetest dog) If there wasn't enough change I could walk around behind the bleachers, and if a foul ball came back there that I could retrieve, I could turn it in for a popsicle.

I could go on for a long time with memories of summer .... picnics in the park, apple butter from the tree in our yard (well, that was fall, but I didn't know the difference then!), ... maybe we'll have another "memory day" on the blog!

I'm glad to be on the internet again. I missed you all!

Brad
