A REMEMBERED DAY IN HISTORY

"The Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land."
Psalm: 95: 3-5

When I was a young married girl, I went to live in Hawaii with my with my young and proud Air Force lieutenant husband.
I'll never forget seeing the holes in the metal steps outside of the buildings at Hickam AFB and the huge chips that were taken out of the walls of those buildings by the flying shrapnel. And the sad feeling of the Pearl Harbor memorial. I didn't say "the first time" because each time I saw the damage there I was reminded of the devastation and loss that war brings.
Although I learned about WWII in school, it became real for me living there and being so close to our military.
It is a day that I remember silently with a prayer that all war and conflict in our world finally cease to exist.

Peace on earth, good will toward men.
