WHERE THERE'S SMOKE, THERE'S FIRE
Moving on from Point Imperial, stopping to take in the spectacular views at Roosevelt Point and Cape Final, we noticed smoke off to our right, and were both a bit puzzled and concerned.
It seemed to us as though it was rapidly getting more intense. What should we do?
and then we saw this rather intriguing sign and assumed that everything was under control .
And so we continued on toward our destination, Cape Royal, where we were promised by both page 4 of the "Guide to the North Rim" and Curtis (who had been there before) a "breathtaking panorama up and down and across the canyon".
Even though the smoke seemed to us to be growing "bigger" and closer, we continued to trust "management". (after all, hadn't there been an article entitled: "Fire: A Management Tool" in the aforementioned, "North Rim Guide"?
