A Big Hole? No Problem!

It all began with an idea by Jennie Butchart to beautify a worked-out limestone quarry which had supplied her husband's nearby Portland cement plant.
















Add a bit of imagination, a lot of hard work and 100 years, and this is the result.

your photos are beautiful! i'm so glad you had the opportunity to see the beautiful NW!

We're in colorado springs...rode bike's down Pike's Peak yesterday. very exciting. got up at 4:30am this morning for hot air ballooning, but it was called off at the launch site due to unfavorable winds...ugh. maybe we'll try to rebook it for tomorrow for our third 4:30am wake-up call in a row.
