IRIS II

"He who sows courtesy reaps friendship,
and he who plants kindness gathers love."
Apple of Gold

"Courtesy" is a word we don't here much anymore.
Maybe it needs to come back into style, both in language and practice.

It's amazing how many times I hand money to the clerk (could be fast food or a retail store) without hearing thank you or have a nice day or anything. Kind of sad.

Henry Ford told his employees that he did not pay them - the customer paid them. Some of todays businesses apparently don't make that known!!

Nice picture - Did you put a backdrop behind the flower? A dark card or some material? Looks very creative!!!

...and "civility." I've got a son who must think it's cool to sprinkle every other sentence with vulgarity. Wouldn't it be nice if those who do that would invest in learning some multi-syllable words that have more meaning in the grown-up world of intelligent conversation? Me...I'm perfect.

Henry Ford was correct.
I remember in 1967 when Harold took office in the County Collector's office, we decided that we would run the office with the reality that it belonged to the good folks of Cape County, and that we would try to run it with that in mind.
We made it a rule to imagine that there was another collector's office right down the hall, that we worked on commission, and we would act accordingly.

I heard Harold tell the story many times of what his Dad told him when they ran a 24 hour truck stop and the boys worked the pumps. I quote, "There are hundreds of gas stations up and down this highway. They're all selling gas at the same price. The only thing we have to bring them back here is service!

They had lots of business. (I will have to add that they also had Grandmother's Kuehle's chicken and dumplings too!)

Note to #3: Actually, I took it in the house without a flash. It just came out that way.

Note to diverted: Almost!
