Sometimes
we just
cruised along..
Sometimes
we just
stopped and
drifted while
Ricco told us
wild tales of'
the river and
the canyon.
It was great!
"God's love is like a river springing up in the Divine Substance and flowing endlessly through His creation, filling all things with life and goodness and strength." Thomas Merton
We went ashore at Lee's Ferry** where a bus awaited to take us on the drive back to Page and our van.
After a wonderful dinner at The Dam Bar and Grill in Page, our trusty driver made the long trip back to Flagstaff where we arrived tired but happy.
**Lee's Ferry is a tiny settlement next to the Colorado River at the end of a side road 6 miles from Alt US89.
The village is named afte John D. Lee, a Mormom settler with 17 wives who established a ferry there is 1871 whilst in exile following his role in the massacre of 120 emigrants near St. George, Utah, (for which he was later executed).
The ferry provided the only crossing of the river for nearly 60 years until a bridge (The Navajo Bridge) was built a few miles downstream, where the present day route 89 crosses now.
A wider replacement bridge has since been built alongside the original one which is now a foot bridge; and together with Glen Canyon Dam this is one of only two bridges across the Colorado for many hundreds of miles between the Hoover Dam and Hite, in Utah.

Wow! So informative! It is nice to be reminded.
Love it!
I like the way His love flows through me, giving me with life, goodness, and strength.
Ricco sure could tell some stories! And to be able to keep such a straight face at such a young age. I think he said he is going to an IVY League school in the East (unless that was also a story!).
Hey Mom, where is that fashion statement picture of you with the lovely green hat?
