VERY EARLY

Even before the bells or the trucks,
there is this time honored harbinger
of dawn...

The Morning
Paper

Unlike the bells and trucks, it arrives ever so quietly.
Almost as if to just "appear".
But we know better. Nothing magic about it.
Perhaps sometimes we take it for granted; but
we know that someone had to rise very early to
bring us "the news".

May I share with you some thoughts from Don
Kuehle's column this week?
He entitles it, "Do I Have Good News For You!"

People are always anxious to hear the news!

In the Golden Age of Greece, runners carried the news from one community to another.

In early New England towns, the "town crier" went up and down the streets calling out the news of the day.

On the American frontier, where settlements were separated by many miles, the Circuit Rider came once a year bearing the news.

It seems we have always been eager to know "the news".

Today, in the midst of a world dominated by bad news, God says, "Listen, folks, do I have good news for you!"

GOOD NEWS: God gives us His grace!

GOOD NEWS: God gives us His peace!

GOOD NEWS: God gives us His love!

The Good News is still around; and no amount of bad news will ever silence it! Amen

And before we end our walk today, let me share with you another early
riser I encountered on one of my morning outings on The Hill this summer.

Such a gentle creature.
It was a good way to begin the day.

Have a great weekend....see you Monday...God willing.
